A coalition of 22 countries, including the United States and several European nations, has called on Iran to cease what they describe as state-sponsored attacks, intimidation, and harassment targeting individuals within their territories.
In a joint statement released on Thursday, the countries expressed concern over alleged Iranian operations aimed at dissidents, journalists, and members of Jewish and Israeli communities residing abroad. The signatories argued that such activities undermine national sovereignty, violate international norms, and pose a threat to public safety.
The statement asserted that attempts to kill, kidnap, intimidate, or otherwise target individuals on foreign soil constitute unacceptable interference in the domestic affairs of sovereign states. The countries consequently urged Iran to immediately halt these actions.
The coalition further alleged that Iranian security and intelligence institutions, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation, the Quds Force, and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, have been linked to a range of transnational operations carried out through both direct and indirect networks.
Additionally, the countries condemned a series of recent attacks in Europe reportedly claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI), a group they allege maintains connections with Iranian intermediaries. They emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing such security threats and safeguarding affected communities.
The joint declaration was endorsed by Albania, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Concluding the statement, the signatories reaffirmed their commitment to protecting their citizens and preserving international security, while urging Iran to respect the sovereignty of other nations and adhere to established international norms.
